A Surface Well in Niger

It was reported by Jabir ibn Abd Allah (RA) that: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Whoever digs a well, and then aliving being of jinn, man or bird drinks from it, he will have a reward on the Day of Resurrection.”

In May 2023, Zad Al-Khair Foundation has drilled a group of surface wells in Niger in regions most in need of safe (potable) water. People in such regions experience permanent water scarcity, therefore, they are in urgent need of wells.

We have studied the areas to locate groundwater, then, in cooperation with our contractors, we have been able, by Allah’s grace, to drill a surface well that can fulfill an entire village’s daily need for potable water. It is a hand pump well, drilled to a depth of 25 m, with a watering trough to provide drinking water to livestock. The well serves more than 200 locals and can last up to 15 years.
